Josh Cellars Merlot- Wine Tasting 8

Name: Josh Cellars

Variety: Merlot

Region: California

Country: United States

Vintage Year: 2019

Price: $13

Winery Review: “Excellent merlot, more like a zinfandel. Fruity, smooth, rich and bold. Long spicy finish with the fruit lingering also. Good price for the quality. Easy to drink alone but goes with food equally as well.”

Wine Folly: "Merlot is loved for it's boisterous black cherry flavors, supple tannins, and smoky or chocolaty finish. It's often found in a Bordeaux blend with Cabernet Franc. Merlot tastes great alongside roasted foods like pork shoulder, roasted mushrooms, or braised short ribs. Try complementing the fruit notes with chimichurri sauce" (pg. 131)

My Review: This deep ruby colored wine had a sharp bold scent, reminded me of almost ripe cherry with the tiniest hints of milk chocolate. This merlot was extremely smooth and bursting with flavor through the entire sip. Tasted blueberry, the bitter sharpness of raspberry, and subtle oaky flavors followed by a soft wash of tannins. A perfect full bodied wine to enjoy on its own that is sure to be a crowd favorite. Overall, I give Josh Cellar's Merlot a 9/10.

I had this by itself with no food.

Cheers,

Morgan
