Name: Magistrate Lodi

Variety: Zinfandel

Region: Sonoma, California

Country: United States

Vintage Year: 2017

Winery Review: "Deep garnet in color. Black cherry and plum with raspberry and floral notes on nose. Attack is ripe black cherry, plum, raspberry with hints of dark chocolate, toasty oak, vanilla and spice. Medium to long finish adds oak and earth to bitter black fruit. Nice chewy tannins. Low acidity. Medium to full bodied. Fruit forward and dry. A solid value zin at a great price. This one was less jammy than many of its Lodi counterparts. Cheers!"

Wine Folly: "A fruit-forward yet bold red that's loved for its jammy fruit and smoky, exotic spice notes Originally from Croatia, Zinfandel is related to Croatia's #1 red, Plavic Mali. Zinfandel is ideal with Turkish, Moroccan, and Arabic cuisine, which bring out the grape's cinnamon-like spices. Try it with Asian barbecue." (pg.189)

My Review: This beautiful dark berry Zinfandel boasts a bold fruity scent. The scent was followed by vivid bursts of strawberry and raspberry jam on the tongue. This semi dry wine was very smooth on the palate. It's cedar and earthy finished was topped with soft tannins creating a well rounded tasting experience. Overall, I give Magistrate Lodi's Zinfandel a 7.5/10.

I had this on its own with no food.

Cheers,

Morgan
