Winery Review: "Nose of blackberry, black cherry, and earth, same on the palate, big body, tasty, opened slowly in the glass, suggest a 60-minute decant, very, soft, silky tannins on the medium/long finish."

Wine Folly: "What makes Napa Valley special (especially as a New World region) is a prevalence of volcanic soils which unexplainably add an earthy, “dusty” taste to Napa’s best wines. Since earthiness and minerality are not common in New World wine regions, this “dustiness” adds complexity to Napa wines. Napa Cabernet's solid, sophisticated structure and deep black fruit flavors complement rich meaty, and earthy flavors. Red meats and game like beef, venison, and lamb all serve as ideal partners, and vegetarian alternatives like portobello mushrooms stuffed with goats' cheese and pesto also work well."

My Review: This wine had a nice juicy smell and was ruby red. The wine was definitely bold and full-bodied, which I really appreciated. The wine is a little acidic when you first sip, but it opens up with tastes of blackberry, raspberry, plum, and baking spices. At the end of the sip, you can taste a little oaky nature-like taste that lingers on your tongue. The wine is on the dryer side and is slightly tannic. I enjoyed it both right out of the bottle and after decanting. Overall, I give Trader Joes Grand Reserve's Cabernet Sauvignon a 9/10.

Cheers,

Morgan
